Understanding the ethical and legal considerations when working in the creative media sector

Understanding the ethical and legal considerations when working in the creative media sector

Laws

Laws are written approved and enforced by a particular government.

Ethics

Ethics are rules of conducts, responsibility. if you break an ethical code yo may be forced to act with ethical disapproval from your peers or professional body.

Privacy law

privacy law is a regulation that protects a person right to be left alone

people are allowed to lead there life without being in the public eye

libel law

Libel law is to print something which is not true or may harm that person reputation and may bring hate or scam towards them.

It must be a statement which claims to be fact and its not clearly identified as an opinion.
for an example a magazine can not right anything they want, they have to make it look and sound like a fact not an opinion. for another example the righter of the magazine article can not express her/his own feelings as this is an opinion not a fact.

Intellectual property

Intellectual property is something that is unique to you if physically created i.e. an idea is not your intellectual property but the words you write are.

copyright is a type of intellectual law that protects your work

By knowing you rights and having the right type of protection you can stop people steeling or copying
  • the name of the product or brand
  • your inventions
  • the design or look of the product
  • things you write, make or produce

Film

Were to start with film, we have all grow up around films those Disney classics that we still love to watch at any age, the horror films what scare the life out of use but we still watch them, the love story what we all wish for, but were did film come from well film’s started being made in 1890s but these were short film what lasted about 2 to 3 minutes not the full length films that we know today. The first film to have speech in was The Jazz Singer in October 1927 any film before that was classed as a silent film but it had music instead of speech. The first film to be made in color was Cupid Angling in 1918 but the most popular one is the famous Wizard of Oz. The film industry or motion picture industry is involved in the creation and distribution of films as a product. This industry is a worldwide phenomenon, but some countries have a greater role in production than others such as the US and the UK. The film industry generally employs a wide number of people because of the production and distribution process. Also many film company have other company what they have bought for an example Disney bought Marvel in 2009.

This image shows the cycle of a film. It starts off with an idea, were the director and producers sit down and try and think of an idea they could turn into a film. Then after that there is the development that means pitching the final idea and doing the final draft. After this there is packaging witch is were you find the cast and hire the crew, also doing the production schedule. The next step is financing this is finding the market for your film and then seeing if you get the green light to go ahead with production. The next step is pre-production this means casting and story boarding this is were you start to see the film come to life. Now for the main part.  production, this means shooting, lighting, camera and action. Then there is the part were you see the film starting to make sense and in order the way it is spouse to be. This is Post-production. The 8th step is sales & marketing this is were the cast and the director do interviews or photo shoots for magazines. The 9th step is the exhibition this is the premiere and the box office performance this is were you see if your film is as popular as you want it or if its just a bust. After all this there is other windows this is DVDs and Blu-ray. Also the profit if there is any made.

Spell and grammar check

Spell and grammar check

Week 1

This week I am going to look at other animations so I have an idea of what I want to do for mine.
Time lapse

I am going to start by looking at time lapse
Time lapse is my favourite animation. I tried to do one last year but it didn't really work because I didn't fully understand how it worked. I want to try it again but this time have camera set up on a road and do a time lapse of the traffic. For an example this video of New York.

Model Based

I would like to do something with models but not clay as I don't like it much. I would rather make I with models for an example toys, I want to do something with Iron Man or The Big Bang Theory.
For an example this video is of toy cars doing a car chase scene.

 Pixilation

With pixilation I want to do a video about a love and hate relationship. For an example boyfriend and girlfriend that fight but at the end of the day can still love each other.

Week 2 (My ideas)

My time lapse ideas

One of my ideas is to put a go pro into my mam's partners recovery van, when he is on call and have it there all day because he is always out on call and he can go anywhere within the UK. After filming the things I need I will speed the video up and add audio.

Another ideas is to go up to Roseberry Topping and set up a camera from the top and have it recording from day to sun set.

Another idea was to be filming the traffic on the A19 for a few hours then after speed the clips up and add sound.
My model based ideas

One of my ideas are to buy some big bang theory Lego for an example a Sheldon, Leonard and do a mini sketch show. For an example a silly little argument like they always do.

Week 3

I have chosen my idea and am going to use my A19 idea. I am currently in the process of drawing up my mood board. When I have completed my mood board I will take a photo with my phone and upload it here.

Week 4

I am thinking of changing my idea as it is not channelling and it won't be that enjoyable to watch. I might changing it to a car journey or a walk to Preston Park or to Acklam. The reason I am doing this is because I want to challenge myself. I will film it with a go pro then speed it up in the editing part and add music into it.

Week 5

I am going to Scarborough on 26th March so am going to record my journey back. I am going to use my phone to record my time laps because my phone is an IPhone 5s so it has time lapse Built into it so I won’t have to do that much editing.

Week 6

Here are two photos showing how and where I filmed my time lapse.
I have included some music to my animation. I have picked to use David Guetta and Sia titanium karaoke   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKHBCNNrv5M.

Here is my time lapse I have uploaded it to YouTube.

Here is the original sentence.
